Abstract

The present work intends to carry out a bibliographic review on the variable prescription in orthodontics and its clinical application. From its origins, orthodontics tries to simplify its biomechanics, providing the clinician with material that simplifies their work. The clinical applicability of different prescriptions is described, as well as the influence of the self-ligation system related to this, determining key factors in the selection of the bracket to be used according to the clinical case that we face. When we use a straight arch bracket in which a multitude of parameters and specifications given by the author and manufacturer of the prescription have been used in its construction, we obtain a tooth movement and position that depends on these factors. Undoubtedly, the Individual Diagnosis of our patients continues to be the determining factor for our decision making.
