Utilidad de la ortopantomografía en la práctica ortopédica
Abstract
Within the wide range of paraclinical examinations that we use in orthopedics, Orthopantomography (OPT) is one of the most important. So much so that it has spread remarkably, becoming a routine study due to its simplicity and low cost. Many times, orthopedists indicate the OPT because it is within a "protocol", and we are not exhaustive in its study, we are not capable of extracting all the useful information it offers. It is very important to know all the data that an OPT can provide us, and its value to reach a correct diagnosis and treatment plan.
The concept of asymmetry is key in orthopedics, diagnosing it is decisive when we want to develop an accurate differential diagnosis. Several authors over the years have tried to find an infallible method of finding asymmetries through the study of the OPT.
