Importance of the feeding, its realtion with the growth and development, also with the stablishment of the occlusal functions

In this work we will talk about feeding and how this has to be adequated to the maduration of the organs and systems, to achieve an armonic growth which allows the
individual a good development, and also a correct stablishment of the functions. It is necessary to bear in mind
that if the functions are altered, there will not be a correct growth, that is why we have to pay attention to the functions, understanding that “functions make the shape”.
The stomatognatic system is influenced by the functions which develop on it, and their correct development will depend on their correct fulfillment.
An altered function will bring with it, an alteration of the rest, searching for a new stability. This generates inadequate stimuli for the potential development of the system.
The stomatognatic system will grow correctly in the abscence of disgnatias, if it receives the adequate stimuli to develop and fulfill correctly its functions.
Feeding as an agent of stimuli will have to adequate to each stage of the individual. Maternal lactancy, and a correct feeding are of fundamental importance, not only from the affective point of view, nutritional, inmunologic, but also it is very important from the functional point of view, this point is not always known, being the pediatric’s responsibility, also the dentist and orthopedic’s one to let it know. It is by means of a feeding which gives the nutritional and functional requirements that the individual will be able to grow in health.
