Synthetic Etiological-Clinical Classification of Orofacial Disharmonies (DOF)
Abstract
The purpose of this work is to present the first original classification of orofacial disharmonies (FOD).
FOD are frequent and multicausal alterations of the stomatognathic system that affect the faces of adult patients in their aging process. Currently, there is a growing need and interest of the population to solve them, not only in their functional aspect but also in their esthetic aspect, by means of the current treatments of Oro-Facial Harmonization.
The existence of differences and similarities in the set of disharmonies determine multiple diagnoses and treatments to solve them, without currently having a specific classification of FOD to guide the treatments, preventive and statistical aspects, so this publication presents a new, original and synthetic “etiological-clinical” classification.
The relevance of the synthetic classification offered is to facilitate a precise “clinical-etiological diagnosis” in order to establish the most appropriate treatment plan, as well as possible interconsultations, specific preventive measures as appropriate and statistics of prevalence and incidence of the different FOD in the specialty of AOF.
