Early treatment of the functional crossbite with direct plates and standard skeletonized activator

The functional crossbite installed in the first dentition and without early treatment, it becomes an etiology of asymmetry of the masticatory system with consequences at a dental, paradential and joint level.
The non physiological chewing and congenit alterations in the cranial base or in the first years of life, constitutes the morphofunctional mechanisms of the perpetuation of the functional crossbite and its worsened continuation to the second dentition.
This clinical case shows the evolution of the treatment of a functional crossbite with deep bite in the first dentition by means of the resource direct plates and skeletal activator with a total bite and stops in the mesial face of the first molars.
