Early treament of dentomaxillofacial alteration in achondroplastic patient
Abstract
Achondroplasia is the most common skeletal dysplasia, characterized by disproportionate bone growth that affects craniofacial development. These alterations often result in dentomaxillary discrepancies such as midface hypoplasia, skeletal Class III relationships, and associated malocclusions. The management of these patients requires a multidisciplinary treatment approach, in which dentofacial orthopedics plays a key role in guiding growth and promoting balanced maxillofacial development.
This clinical case presents the early treatment of a patient with achondroplasia, emphasizing the importance of orthopedic intervention during growth to improve function, facial aesthetics, and the patient’s quality of life.
