The dento-maxillary-mandibular concordance

Abstract

Thirty normal occlusion cases are obtained from a database of our institute (IUCEDDU). Sums of the mandibular vs. maxillary mesiodistal diameters of each anterior
and posterior sectors of the arch show bivariate normal distributions from which orthogonal regression lines are determined. A computer program is developed:
(I) to portray clinical cases of maxillomandibular discordance in the setting of a scatterplot with contour and regression lines; (II) to estimate accurately the amount of both sectoral
dental excess and defect and the most appropriate way to correct them; (III) to manipulate data with clinical purposes assuming different scenarios.
