Early integral orthopedics
Abstract
In this presentation we develop the fundamentals and clinical and paraclinical diagnostic tools that support (or sustain) our work methodology in the prevention and orthopedics clinic (PyO-IUCEDDU).
We treat new and old concepts in biology and orthopedics with a new look in the light of clinical evidence, giving rise to EARLY COMPREHENSIVE ORTHOPEDIC with the aim of improving our practice. INTEGRAL because it is structural, functional and interdisciplinary and EARLY because it requires being implemented in the first dentition stage.
For educational purposes, we compare two clinical cases of apparent similarity at the age of 5 to 6 years, and we go deeper into the examination of each one until we confirm their total diagnostic difference and, therefore, their different therapeutic paths.
Another clinical case is developed of a 3-year-old patient, with apparent normal development according to age, in which it is evident through OPT and teleradiography, how to early functionalize the occlusal plane to obtain physiological chewing. It is possible to balance the asymmetry of the upper jaw and the skull base and the possibility of obtaining a good conformation of the glenoid cavities and intermaxillary harmonization.
In the development of the cases, we add how to identify during the examination through the Clinical History of the first dentition the sites where the structural development anomaly is located and our work methodology to treat it at this same stage and channel genuine growth without compensations.
