Abstract

Mixed dentition is the period of growth and development of the dentition, which is characterized by the presence of temporary and permanent teeth in the dental archs.

In the transition period structural and functional changes of the jaws and occlusal plane are produced, keeping the negro muscular system in functional balance.

The mixed dentition goles through a transition period exposed to various situations of risk and pathology. It is real, phase of permanent control in this period.

It is to go step by step building the path to a young permanent dentition.

When the masticatory system loses its occlusal balance , we can not wait and we have to reestablish its real status.

In case of risk, take preventive actions, depending on the pathologies, different therapeutic strategies of treatment with appliances are gong to be chosen.

From the 18 years old, with the eruption of the third molars, the permanent dentition is completed.
