To make the diagnosis in primary dentition of the sagital and vertical skeletal condition of the patient, we do not use Ricketts, MC Namara or Stainer cephalometries.
This is due to fact that in primary dentition we do not have defined the point A of the upper jaw which are required by those studies,.
For this reason, in addition to the clasical cephalometry of the polygon of Bjork Jarabak, we have introduced in our study the Delaire angle taken from his study of architectural and structural cranio facial analysis, formed by skull basis or C3 and the plane of the anterior pillar of the face or Cspide pillar or C1.
This angle which keeps increasing in the different stages of the development of the masticatory system since primary dentition until the permanent one, it allows us to make a differential diagnosis of the skeletal sagital anomaly in the upper jaw itself in relation to the inferior jaw, imperative condition to evaluate the proper cranio facial development in growth periods.
We also use the angle of discrepancy of the bone basis of Schwartz to evaluate the anomalies in its vertical behaviour.
In this article we describe and support how we use this diagnosis cephalometric tools in the clinic of Prevention and Orthopedics (IUCEDDU).
