Skeletonized activator

Abstract

From all the experience gathered since the year 2004 with Dr. Isabel Poggi in the clinic of prevention and orthopedic in IUCEDDU, arises this article.

The name of skeletal activator is chosen, due to the acrilic which joins the metalic elements is minimal and is open in the anterior section as the AAEK.

At the beggining of this work, we used the palatal arch with a wire of 1.2 mm. We used to make it some modfications in its structure and metalic elements.

The basis and handling of the metalic elements are described.

It is emphasized the acrilic oclusal plate, element which makes it different from other activators, it allows the vertical control of the teeth, the dentoalveolar, the transversal and antero posterior movement of the dental archs, creating a new occlusal plane.

At the same time the ATMs are modelated accordingly to this new oclusal plane and a new neuromuscular system guided to the normality.
