Abstract

The arrival of microscrews has opened a wide range of therapeutic possibilities, has made iteasier and has decreased the speed of the time of clinic work and given the possibility of optimizing our treatments, eliminating, or best, decreasing many of the difficulties we had till the present time. It has also been able to substitute another anchorage elements not very accepted by patients, generating by this way a better tolerance to the treatment and drecreasing many times the need of colaboration of the patient. Previously to its arrival, orthodontics had some limitations, one of them the impossibility of moving one tooth or a group of teeth without producing a reciprocal movement, we do not wish, in the group of teeth that were working as anchorage.

This applied mostly in the movement of closing spaces, but it was also inconvenient to make movements in other levels, for example the vertical one.

In this article developed in part 1 in this publication and part 2 in the publication of December 2021, we will study everything realted with the characteristics of microscrews , its varieties, its applications, how we choose them and placement, also all the therapeutic possibilities in the cases we are searching solution to vertical problems, whether individual or also an specific dental group, or even the new concept of vertical management of a complete archade.

It is for this reason that results vital, as clinicals, to know all its applications, advantages and also know its risks. As well as study and know the characteristics of each patient to decide which strategy will give us the best results diminishing the possibility of making unwanted movements which threaten our treatment objectives.

Microscrews are a tool which has revolutionized orthodontics and its is essential that the specialist is familiar with the technique for the benefit of the patients.
